Leaves petiolate, glaucous; lamina 1·6–4·5 × 0·9–2·5 cm., elliptic or oblong to obovate or subcircular, obtuse to rounded or retuse at the apex, with margin finely serrulate, cuneate to rounded at the base, with main and subsidiary lateral nerves and the ± densely reticulate tertiary venation equally prominent on both sides; petiole 3–4 mm. long, slender.
Shrub or small tree 1·5–2·5 m. high, usually straggling or sprawling, with smooth dark grey bark; branches spreading, brownish-to blackish-purple at first, becoming glaucous-purple-grey and vertically striate (eventually terete), with scattered lenticels.
Small tree or spreading shrub, up to 3 m high. Leaves glaucous, drooping and folded. Flowers solitary. Sepals 10-15 mm long in fruit. Flowers pale to bright yellow.
Stamens with anthers 1·5 mm. long (? or longer), 1/2 as long to as long as the filaments, straight, dehiscing by apical pores.
Sepals 4–5 mm. long in flower, elliptic, rounded, becoming brownish-red, 7–10 mm. long, flat and reflexed in fruit.
Flowers solitary, terminating short axillary shoots; pedicels 0·7–1·2 cm. long in fruit, articulated at the base.
Drupelets 8–9 x 5–6 mm., flattened-curved-cylindric, inserted near the base on a short stalk; embryo straight.
Carpels 5, with styles united almost to the apex with ends recurved; stigmas slightly enlarged.
Petals bright yellow, 8–11 x 4–6 (8) mm., obovate, unguiculate.
