Characteristics

A moderately branched, up to c. 0.3 m high shrublet. Stems ascending-erect, somewhat divaricate, glabrous, somewhat striate, leafy, with lateral brachyblasts with crowded leaves, becoming nude and marked with scars after brachyblasts. Leaves decussate or sometimes alternate on stems, crowded on brachyblasts, spreading, flat or somewhat canaliculate, mid-ribbed, linear or narrowly elliptic-oblong, 4-12 mm long, 0.5-1.5 mm wide, glabrous, distinctly glandular-punctate, acute-obtuse. Capitula cymose, 2-5 together, terminal on stem and short, pedunculoid, few-leaved branch-lets. Involucre cyathiform, 2-3.5 mm wide. Involucral bracts 25-35, subequal, outer ovate-oblong, inner gradually longer and narrowly oblong, innermost linear and straight, up to 6.5 mm long, up to 1 mm wide, dorsally gland-dotted, acute. Receptacle flat-convex, paleate. Paleae canaliculate, linear, 5.5-6 mm long, 0.5-0.7 mm wide, dorsally gland-dotted, acute. Ray-florets 4-8. Tube cylindrical, c. 2.4 mm long, glandular. Lamina elliptic, 4.5-5 mm long, c. 1.1 mm wide, 4-veined. Style c. 4.8 mm long; style-branches c. 2 mm long. Achenes as in disc-florets, but more densely pilose. Disc-florets c. 15, perfect. Corolla c. 4.5 mm long, c. 0.9 mm wide. Tube cylindrical, gland-dotted mainly on upper half. Limb cyathiform; corolla lobes c. 0.6 mm long, dorsally glandular. Style c. 6 mm long; style-branches c. 0.8 mm long, apically penicillate and truncate; stylopodium distinct. Anthers c. 2.5 mm long; tails c. 1/5 of the length of the anther. Achenes almost terete or somewhat angular, narrowly oblong, 2.5-3 mm long, c. 0.7 mm wide, ± pilose on lateral ribs; pappus crownlike of ± connate scales, up to 0.9 mm long.
