Characteristics

A moderately branched, up to c. 0.5 m high shrublet. Stems ascending-erect, tomentose, leafy, becoming glabrous and nude and marked with leaf-scars. Leaves alternate, spreading, flat or approaching semiterete, mid-ribbed, narrowly oblong, 3-13 mm long, 0.5-2 mm wide, as young laxly tomentose, becoming glabrous, distinctly glandular-punctate, acute-obtuse. Capitula solitary or occasionally paired, sessile or sometimes pedunculate, terminal. Peduncles up to 3 mm long. Involucre narrowly cyathiform-campanulate, 2-6 mm wide. Involucral bracts 15-45, subequal, outer ovate, inner gradually longer and narrowly oblong, innermost linear and straight or apically somewhat spreading, up to 10 mm long, up to 1.4 mm wide, inner dorsally gland-dotted, acute. Receptacle flat-conical, paleate. Paleae canaliculate, linear or narrowly spatulate, 6-9 mm long, 0.2-0.5 mm wide, dorsally gland-dotted, acute. Ray-florets 7-20. Tube cylindrical, 2.5-3.5 mm long, glandular. Lamina elliptic, 5-8 mm long, 1.5-2.5 mm wide, 4-veined. Style 4-5.5 mm long; style-branches 1.5-2.4 mm long. Achenes as in disc-florets. Disc-florets 8-30, perfect. Corolla 4.5-6.5 mm long, 0.6-0.9 mm wide. Tube cylindrical, glandular mainly on upper half. Limb narrowly cyathiform; corolla lobes 0.5-0.8 mm long, dorsally ± gland-dotted. Style 4.5-7 mm long; style-branches 0.6-1.3 mm long, seldom dorsally sparsely pilose, apically penicillate and rounded-truncate; stylopodium ± distinct. Anthers 2.4-3.4 mm long; tails c. 1/3 of the length of the anther. Achenes angular with lateral ribs, linear, 3-6 mm long, 0.4-0.6 mm wide, glabrous or sparsely pilose; pappus crownlike of ± connate scales, up to 1 mm long, occasionally with a few up to c. 5 mm long, slightly barbellate bristles.

Erect shrub, up to 1 m tall, leafy on young parts. Leaves suberect to spreading, linear or subterete, (5-)10-13 mm long, glabrescent, glandular-punctate and gummy. Flowerheads subsessile and solitary at branch tips, radiate, yellow, 10-15 mm diam., receptacle paleate, florets glandular-hairy around middle.
Similar to O. multipunctata but leaves smaller. Flower heads subsessile and solitary.
