Shrub to 1 m. or so, well branched; twigs tomentellous with stellate and small rusty dendritic hairs, soon glabrescent.. Petiole 5–12 mm. long; lamina thinly coriaceous, oblong-elliptic to oblong-obovate, 3–8 cm. long, 1.5–4 cm. wide, rounded at the apex, cuneate at the base, inconspicuously stellate-pubescent beneath, ± glabrescent; lateral nerves 4–8 pairs, spreading-ascending, rather obscure.. Spikes axillary and clustered at older nodes, with 6–12 sessile flowers on an axis 4–25 mm. long; bract ovate to elliptic-obovate, concave, 3–4 mm. long, pubescent.. Receptacle 1–1.5 mm. long, pubescent.. Calyx tubular, 2–3 mm. long, ciliate.. Corolla 3.5–4 cm. long, orange, stellate-pubescent; bud-tip only slightly swollen; tube 15 mm. long, with a narrowly ellipsoid basal swelling 3–4 mm. long; lobes erect, the upper part spreading to reflexed.. Filaments inserted 6–7 mm. above the base of the lobes, the upper half slightly thickened and loosely coiled, sometimes breaking off; anther 3–4.5 mm. long; connective-appendage minute.. Berry not seen.
