Characteristics

Leaves 6–12 x 3.5–7 mm., ovate or elliptic, acute at the apex, cuneate at the base, scabrid above and less obviously so beneath on the midrib and nerves which are distinctly visible; petiole c. 1 mm. long; stipule sheath scarcely 1 mm. long, usually with two subulate fimbriae 1-1.5 mm. long.

Calyx tube c. 1 mm. long, obovoid, glabrous; lobes 1–1.8 x 0.7 mm., linear to narrowly ovate, glabrous or margins appearing minutely serratulate due to short emergences.
Flowers in triads or few-flowered cymes at the apex of the stems or rarely solitary; peduncle up to 1.5 cm. long; pedicels c. 1 mm. long.
Corolla greyish-blue or purple; tube 0.8–1 mm. long, pilose inside at base and near throat; lobes 1x1 mm. long, broadly ovate.
Flowers apparently isostylous; style glabrous, 1.6 mm long, the anthers shortly exserted.
Prostrate matted much branched herb 10–45 cm. long; stems ± glabrous, 4-angled.
Capsule 1–1.5 x 1.5–2 mm., depressed subglobose, scarcely beaked, glabrous.
