Leaves 0.5–2 x 0.2–1.1 cm., narrowly ovate, acute at the apex, rounded then abruptly narrowed at the base into a short petiole 1–2 mm. long, glabrous; stipule sheath c. 1 mm. long with c. 5 often purplish fimbriae 2–3 mm. long.
Anthers about | exserted; style and stigmata together about 1.2 mm. long, the latter c. 0.4 mm. and just reaching anther tips, the flowers obviously not heterostylous.
Calyx tube 0.5 mm., with short acute swollen-based hairs; lobes up to c. 1.5 mm. long in fruit, 0.5 mm. wide at the base, narrowly triangular.
Seeds compressed, dark brown, c. 0.25 mm. long; testa cells densely coarsely verrucose, with straight walls.
Small weak annual herb about 20 cm. long or tall; stems slender, 4-angled, glabrous.
Capsule 2.5–3 x 2–2.5 mm. including the low rounded beak, broadly subglobose.
Corolla white; tube 0.8 mm. long; lobes 1.3 x 0.5 mm., oblong.
