Leaves 0.3–1.4 cm. x 2.5–9.5 mm., elliptic or ovate, obtuse or subacute at the apex, rounded then abruptly narrowed at the base into a petiole up to 3 mm. long, mostly very thin, glabrous; stipule sheath 0.5 mm. long with 2 or 3 very short lobes or fimbriae under 1 mm. long.
Decumbent or hanging herb, intricately branched, with slender stems. Leaves elliptic or ovate. Flowers 1 or 2(3) terminal and axillary, pedicellate. Calyx lobes 4. Corolla tube 4-5 mm long, glabrous inside. Capsule obovoid. Flowers white or pale violet.
Calyx glabrous; tube ± 0.7 mm. long, obovoid; lobes foliaceous, 0.7–1.1 mm. long, accrescent in fruit to 1.7 mm., lanceolate to ovate, ± acuminate.
Flowers heterostylous, 1–2(3) terminal and also truly axillary ones; pedicels slender, 1.5–9 mm. long becoming up to 11 mm. long in fruit.
Filaments 0.2 mm. long in long-styled flowers, 2 mm. long in short-styled flowers and style 5 and 2.5 mm. long respectively.
Decumbent or hanging, very intricately branched plant, 30 cm. long; stems very slender, ± 4-angled, glabrous.
Corolla white or pale violet; tube 4–5 mm. long, ± slender, glabrous inside; lobes c. 2.2–5 x 2.3 mm.
Capsule 1.8–2 x 1.8–2.2 mm., obovoid, glabrous, crowned by the ± venose calyx lobes.
Seeds black with carunculate testa.
