Annual herb with branched stems, 8–14 cm. tall; stems glabrous or sometimes slightly papillate on the angles below the nodes.. Leaf-blades narrowly elliptic to lanceolate, 0.7–2 cm. long, 2–3.5 mm. wide, acute at the apex, narrowed into the stipule-base, glabrous; stipule-bases ± scarious, 1.5–2 mm. long, with 2–4 weak setae 0.5–1.7 mm. long.. Flowers heterostylous, few in lax cymes; peduncles 0.5–1.5 cm. long, glabrous; pedicels 1–8 mm. long, thickened beneath the capsules, glabrous.. Calyx glabrous; tube subglobose or obconic, 0.8 mm. long; lobes triangular, 0.5–1 mm. long, glabrous.. Corolla pale lilac, drying pale, but with 2 blue marks at the base of the corolla-lobes; tube 1.8–2.2 mm. long; lobes elliptic, 1.5 mm. long, 0.8–1.2 mm. wide, papillate inside.. Filaments exserted 0.8 mm. in short-styled flowers; style 0.8 mm. long, ± hairy above the stigma-lobes, 0.7 mm. long, hairy.. Style exserted 1 mm. in long-styled flowers, the stigma-lobes 0.8 mm. long; stamens well-inserted.. Capsule glabrous, obconic to subglobose, 1.5–2 mm. long and wide, the beak very low.. Seeds dark, depressed-ellipsoid, umbonate on one side, 0.35 mm. long, 0.3 mm. wide, 0.12 mm. thick, strongly reticulate, apparently becoming slimy when moistened.
