Characteristics

Leaves thinly coriaceous; petiole 4–6 mm. long; lamina 2·4–7·5 x 0·5–1·4 cm., oblanceolate or narrowly elliptic, with apex obtuse, acute or acuminate and tipped with a small hard point, base acuminate; upper surface glossy dark green, with midrib level or slightly raised and lateral nerves faintly visible or obscure; lower surface mat, paler, with prominent midrib and lateral nerves completely obscure; both surfaces punctate, scales absent; margin not or slightly revolute, not undulate.

Inflorescence a many–flowered paniculate cyme, terminal and in axils of upper 2 (3) leaf–pairs, slightly exceeding subtending leaf; bracts 0·5–1·5 mm. long, subulate.
Corolla c. 2 mm. long, whitish or cream–coloured; lobes ovate, obtuse, shortly united at base.
Calyx c. 0·75 mm. long, cup–shaped, deeply 4–lobed, lobes triangular.
Fruit 6·8 x 5·6 mm. (when dry), oblong–ellipsoid or subglobose.
Young stems glabrous, ± terete, bark grey, fairly smooth.
