Plant glabrous; twigs angular, keeled below each node.. Leaves alternate; petiole 2–3 mm. long; lamina fleshy, glaucous or grey, ovate-elliptic to elliptic-oblong or slightly obovate, 1–3.5 cm. long, 0.4–2.5 cm. wide, bluntly pointed to rounded at the apex, cuneate at the base, with a pair of strongly ascending lateral nerves from near the base or venation obscure.. Flowers clustered in axils or at nodes below; pedicels 1–3 mm. long; bract cupular with a distinct lobe, keeled below it, 2–3 mm. long.. Receptacle 1 mm. long.. Calyx tubular, 3–4 mm. long, slightly lobed, sometimes slightly pinkish.. Corolla 2.8–3.3 cm. long, yellow in a zone at the base of the lobes, variously green to yellow-green above and below, opening by a unilateral split nearly to the calyx; tube 1–1.2 cm. long, with a ring of 5 small hairy appendages just below the V-slit inside; lobes linear, remaining erect after anthesis.. Filaments attached at the base of the lobes, coiling inwards and shedding anthers at anthesis, with a well-developed tooth in front of the anther.. Berry not seen.
