Plant glabrous; twigs compressed to slightly angular.. Leaves alternate and clustered on short shoots; petiole 2–4 mm. long; lamina leathery, elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate or obovate, 1–4.5 cm. long, 0.6–2 cm. wide, bluntly pointed or rounded at the apex, basally attenuate into the petiole, with 1(–2) pairs of steeply ascending nerves from a little above the base.. Flowers 2–4 in 1–several subsessile umbels in axils and at older nodes; pedicel 2–3 mm. long; bract obliquely ovate-cupular, keeled, 1.5–2 mm. long.. Receptacle 1–1.5 mm. long.. Calyx shortly cupular, 0.5 mm. long, slightly toothed.. Corolla 2.5–4 cm. long, yellow or greenish yellow, with the lobes red above filament-insertions, joined for one-third, the lobes remaining erect, with the tips slightly incurved and coherent; basal swelling 2.5–3 mm. long.. Filaments inserted halfway up lobes, involute after anthesis, with a tiny rounded or bilobed flap jutting out just below anther; anther 2–3.5 mm. long, with a short connective-appendage.. Berry bright red, obovoid, 9 mm. long, 7 mm. in diameter, slightly verrucose.. Fig. 4/1–3.
