Characteristics

Perennial herb, with long, appressed or patently pubescent, slightly flexuous, ascending or procumbent stems, branched from base. Leaves subsessile to petiolate, 1-5-jugate. Leaflets ± elliptic-oblong, apex obtuse to acute; midrib with conspicuous, 5-7 lateral nerves on each side; nerves prominent on lower surface; impressed on upper surface, looping back and not forming a marginal nerve; glabrous or densely hairy, especially on nerves. Stipules linear, slender. Flowers white, creamy, pink, lilac or mauve, in dense axillary racemes, with peduncles much longer than leaves; each flower subtended by linear bracts. Flowering time Nov.-Mar. Pod ± oblanceolate, beaked, flat, pale brown, dehiscent.

Peduncles axillary, 6-32 cm long. Flowers up to 1.2 cm long, 2-4 together; pedicels about 1-2 mm long. Calyx densely hairy; petals hairy without. Style glabrous or with a few hairs along one side. Legume 3.5-4 cm long, 7-5 mm broad. Seeds small, blackish.
