Characteristics

Prostrate or slender, suberect, ±virgate herb 15–20 cm high, with woody rootstock; simple or sparingly branched from near base, retrorsely hairy, rarely glabrous. Branches subterete, often with a pair of lateral ridges, to ±square in cross-section (angles ridged or narrowly winged). Leaves sessile, crowded, obscuring internodes, narrowly elliptic to elliptic, 6.5–11 mm long, 1.5–2.8 mm wide, revolute, obtuse, ±hairy, particularly on margins and abaxial base of midrib. Inflorescence 1-(rarely 3)-flowered, sessile. Calyx 7.5–8.5 mm long; lobes narrowly triangular, acute. Corolla 15–22 mm long, c. 1/2-connate, dark yellow in bud, paler to almost white when open; tube sparsely hairy inside, glabrous outside; lobes obovate, rounded at apex, with narrow arching band of dense crinkly hairs from base of lobes on inner surface, minutely papillose above, glabrous outside except for a few hairs near margin towards base. Ovary and style sparsely hairy.
