Robust, tufted sedge-like subshrub, 20–50 (–70) cm high, many-branched from ground-level; branches (1.2–) 3 (–5) mm diam., appearing leafless, finely longitudinally ridged, minutely papillose. Leaves glabrous, scale-like, sessile, triangular but apex long-attenuate, soon caducous, remaining lamina very broadly triangular, 1.5–2 mm long, 1.8–2.7 mm wide, membranous on margin. Inflorescence 3–7-flowered; pedicel densely hairy; flowers fetid. Calyx 4.5–5 mm long, densely hairy on outer surface; lobes ovate, subacute, with a membranous margin c. 0.5 mm wide (near base). Corolla (10–) 12–16 (–18) mm long, c. 1/2-connate, white with c. half of each lobe brownish; lobes ovate or obovate to narrowly oblong, rounded at apex; outer surface hairy distally, usually sparser on tube; inner surface sparsely hairy to c. halfway up tube, basal half of lobes with band of longer hairs, papillose distally. Ovary ±glandular-hairy; style glabrous.
Usually occasional to locallyfrequent in low Allocasuarina-andProteaceae-dominated shrubland or low closed or open heath formations,sometimes in mallee community with closed shrub understorey, commonly occurringin sandy lateritic soil.
