Erect, ±compact, rush-like undershrub, 15–50 (–75) cm high, many-branched from ground level; branches finely longitudinally ridged, appearing leafless, often ending in a weak spine, glabrous and minutely papillose. Leaves scale-like, sessile, narrowly triangular to triangular, 1.5–3.5 (–5) mm long, 0.6–1 mm wide, tapering to subacute, hairy; older leaves reduced, less than 1.5 mm long, glabrous. Inflorescence 1–4-(–5)-flowered. Calyx 1.5–2 mm long; lobes ovate; outer surface basally and medially ±hairy, occasionally glabrous; inner surface glabrous. Corolla (3.5–) 4–5.5 mm long, c. 1/3–1/2-connate, white; lobes oblong to slightly ovate, obtuse to rounded; outer surface with occasional hairs, rarely glabrous; inner surface densely crinkly hairy from just above base to mouth, papillose and glabrous distally. Ovary ±glandular-hairy; style glabrous, rarely with an occasional minute hair.
An occasional to frequent subshrub, frequently occurring inopen scrub, with Eucalyptus youngiana,Callitris, Thryptomene and spinifex, either in sand or gravelly soils ofdisturbed areas or ironstone ridge formations.
