Tufted sedge-like undershrub, 15–30 (–50) cm high, many-branched from ground-level; branches appearing leafless and finely longitudinally ridged, distally tortuous, often ending in a weak spine, minutely papillose. Leaves reduced, scale-like, sessile, very broadly to broadly triangular, rarely depressed triangular, 0.9–1.5 mm long, 1–1.4 mm wide, often slightly membranous and with a few scattered minute hairs marginally, obtuse to subacute. Inflorescence 1-flowered; pedicel glabrous. Calyx 2.2–3 mm long, glabrous; lobes triangular to ovate, ciliate on margin, subacute to obtuse. Corolla 5–8 (–9) mm long, c. 2/5-connate, white; lobes triangular to ±oblong, rounded at apex; outer surface glabrous basally, hairy medially, more sparsely hairy distally or glabrous; inner surface densely crinkled hairy from c. 2 mm above base to mouth, glabrous near apex. Ovary and style ±hairy.
A frequent to occasional subshrub in open shrubland, associated withEucalyptus albida, E. burracoppinensis and Allocasuarina spp. Abundant in openheathlands dominated by tall shrubs and mallee communities with heathyunderstorey. Occurs in yellow sandy clay to brown clayey sand, yellow earth anddeep, well-drained yellow to white sands, occasionally in shallow sands overgravel (lateritic soils).
