Characteristics

Frutex erectus ramosus 1-2(-3) m altus; rami teretes striati oppositi, juniores virides subherbacei asperuli glandulosi, glandulis brevissime stipitatis, vetustiores lignosi robusti usque 0.7 mm crassi cortice glabro griseo-fusco obtecti; internodia 2-5(-10) cm longa, in infima parte ramorum fertilium vidgo multo breviora. Folia rigide membranacea glanduloso-asperula opposita (vel pauca ex ultimis alterna) petiolata, petiolis semiamplexicaulibus 0.5-1 cm longis, lamina triangulari-ovata-ovata-elliptica usque 9 cm longa usque 5 cm lata basi abrupte vel sensim cuneata et saepe ± late auriculata apice acuta vel rarius obtusa mucronata margine sinuato-lobata, lobis paucis ad 1 cm altis remote denticulatis, vel grosse sinuato-dentata, dentibus mucronatis saepe duplicatis; folia nonnulla praecipue in ramis fertilibus lanceolata remote dentata vel subintegerrima; nervus medius crassus subtus elevatus, nervi secundarii utrinque 2-3 anastomosantes subtus paullum prominentes. Capitula in apice ramorum terminalia solitaria vel saepius in corymbum laxum disposita, fructifera nutantia; pedicelli capitulorum glanduloso-puberuli 2-5(-10) cm longi bracteis paucis lineari-subulatis 3-7 mm longis instructi. Involucri squamae 9-13 uniseriatae fere aequilongae ovato-oblongae vel lanceolato-oblongae 4-7 mm longae 1-2.5 mm latae acutae dorso glandulosopuberulae margine sat late albido-scariosae. Flores radii involucri squamas numero aequantes; ligulae flavae involucrum plus duplo superantes; flores disci flavi numerosi involucro fere aequilongi. Achaenia 7-10 mm longa triangularia, angulis in alas 1.5-2 mm latas semipellucidas productis; cavernula apicalis trifenestrata, fenestris subrotundis vel ovalibus 1-1.5 mm latis; latera 2-3 mm lata leviter rugosa parce glandulosa. Praeter haec achaenia in eodem capitulo pauca (1-3) teretia exalata c. 10 mm longa c. 1.5 mm lata saepe adsunt.
