Characteristics

Herba perennis 5-8 dm alta; caules e caudice crasso subterraneo numerosi stricti junciformes basi lignescentes parce ramosi inferne sulcati.superne striati glabri laeves vel sparse aculeolati foliati, internodiis 1-3 cm longis. Folia alterna glabra vel glanduloso-aspero-pilosa linearia vel lineari-subulata integerrima vel remote denticulata acuta subpungentia inferiora 3-4 cm longa 0.2-0.3 cm lata; nervus medius subtus prominens et in caulem decurrens. Inflorescentiae in apicibus caulium et ramorum ± corymbosae laxae paucicapitulatae; pedicelli graciles erecto-patentes 2-5 cm longi glanduloso-aspero-pilosi bracteis lineari-subulatis 1-3 mm longis laxe instructi. Involucri squamae 12-14 fere uniseriatae lanceolatae 3-4 mm longae c. 1 mm latae acutae per medium dorsum virides pilis conicis glanduliferis ± dense vestitae margine albido-scariosae serrulato-fimbriatae. Flores radii involucri squamas numero aequantes; ligulae flavae involucrum fere 2-plo superantes; staminodia 4 adsunt; flores disci flavi. Achaenia sat dura parva c. 3.5 mm modo longa, semper 3-alata; ala quaeque serie processuum alatorum ± concretorum composita c. 0.5 mm lata; latera inter alas longitudinaliter cristata; cavernula apicalis nulla.
