Characteristics

Herba verisimiliter perennis c. 5 dm alta; caulis erectus teres striatus (exsiccatus) asper glandulosus, glandulis brevissime stipitatis, basi lignescens c. 5 mm crassus interne simplex corymbo terminatus ramis lateralibus corymbiferis parum superatus; internodia 3-7 cm longa. Folia sessilia semiamplexicaulia rigide membranacea (exsiccata) aspera glandulosa margine sinuato-dentata vel serrato-dentata vel saepe duplicato-dentata, dentibus subcallosis mucronatis usque 3 mm altis; infima opposita triangulari-ovata usque 16 cm longa usque 8 cm lata apice subobtusa basi cordato-hastata ± connata; inferiora et intermedia etiam opposita ovata vel ovato-lanceolata 5-8 cm longa 2-3 cm lata apice acuta basi ± late hastato-auriculata; superiora alterna vel rarius subopposita lanceolata vel lanceolato-linearia basi ± auriculata. Inflorescentiae in apice caulis et ramorum corymbosae multicapitulatae, capitulis fructiferis nutantibus pedicellis 2-5 cm longis instructis; rami inflorescentiae glanduloso-asperi bracteis paucis remotis linearisubulatis 3-10 mm longis instructi. Involucri squamae c. 15 uniseriatae fere aequilongae anguste oblongae vel oblongo-Ianeeolatae 3-4.5 mm longae 1-1.5 mm latae acuminatae dorso subglabrae margine albidoscariosae. Flores radii involucri squamas numero aequantes; ligulae flavae involucrum fere 3-plo superantes; flores disci numerosi flavi involucro aequilongi. Achaenia dimorpha: plurima triangularia et trialata, pauca teretia exalata (haec interdum desunt); achaenia alata, alis c. 1 mm latis, parva 5-6 mm longa apice cavernulata trifenestrata; achaenia exalata c. 9 mm longa c. 2.5 mm lata rostrata, rostro solido.
