Frutex vel suffrutex erectus 5-7(-9) dm altus parum ramosus: caulis et rami rigidi teretes saepe ± flexuosi partibus junioribus virides subherbacei glanduloso-asperi-muriculati partibus vetustioribus valde lignosi laeves cortice griseo fusco vestiti; internodia vulgo 0.5-1.5 cm longa. Folia alterna rigide membranacea vel subcoriacea utrinque glanduloso-aspera-muriculata, inferiora et intermedia lamina ovata-elliptica-oblonga 2-3(-5) cm longa 1-2 cm lata apice acuta vel obtusa calloso-nuicronulata margine remote dentata-pinnatifido-dentata, dentibus utrinque 2-5 calloso-mucronulatis usque 3-5 mm altis. rarius subintegerrima basin versus abrupte vel sensim in petiolum 0.5-1.5 cm longum angustata; folia superiora anguste elliptica-lanceolata-sublinearia breviter petiolata vel sessilia margine remote dentata vel in tegerrima; nervus medius subtus elevatus, nervi laterales utrinque 1-2(-3) anastomosantes ± conspicui. Inflorescentiae in apicibus caulis et ramorum laxe corymbosae saepius 5-8-capitulatae; pedicelli capitulorum 2-7(-10) cm longi glanduloso-asperi bracteis paucis lineari-bus-lineari-subulatis integerrimis instructi. Involucri squamae 12-18 subuniseriatae fere aequilongae lanceolatae-anguste ovatae 4-6 mm longae 1-2.5 mm latae acuminatae per medium dorsum glandulosoasperae margine albido-scariosae. Flores radii involucri squamas fere numero aequantes; ligulae flavae-aurantiacae involucrum usque 3(-4)-plo superantes; staminodia 4 vulgo adsunt; flores disci numerosi flavi 4-6 mm longi. Achaenia glabra dura c. 12 mm longa triangularia, angulis in alas c. 3 mm latas rigidas productis; latera sulco longitudinali instructa; cavernula apicalis nulla.
