Characteristics

Suffrutex vel frutex 0.5-2 m altus; caulis erectus vel rarius adscendens valde lignescens dense foliatus indumento ± denso albidolanato deciduo vestitus vel ad axillas modo foliorum floccoso-lanatus vel rarius glaberrimus inferne simplex superne corymboso-ramosus; in speciminibus vetustioribus destructisve plerumque rami laterales adscendentes vel saepe prostrati iterum ramosi, ramis divaricatis, e collo radicis 1-2 cm crasso exeuntes. Folia alterna coriacea glabra glauca sessilia semiamplexicaulia margine integerrima leviter (albido-)cartilaginea leavia vel scabrida; folia basalia et inferiora caulis linearia vel lineari-lingulata vel lineari-oblonga usque 10(-14) cm longa 0.5-2 cm lata obtusa-subacuta mucronulata nervo medio albido prominenti et plerumque nervis longitudinalibus utrinque 1-2 conspicuis instructa; folia caulina sursum sensim longitudine decrescentia; folia intermedia et superiora caulis et folia ramealia oblanceolato-oblonga-late obovata-suborbiculata 0.5-2 cm longa 0.3-1.5 cm lata plerumque imbricata obtusa vel subacuta saepe mucronulata nervo medio subtus prominenti instructa. Inflorescentiae in apicibus caulis et ramorum superiorum corymbosae multi-vel paucicapitulatae; in ramis lateralibus inferioribus pedicelli capitulorum plerumque in apicibus ramulorum solitarii; pedicelli capitulorum sat rigidi ± glanduloso-muriculati 1-5(-10) cm longi bracteis paucis lanceolato-linearibus-lineari-subulatis 3-8 mm longis instructi. Involucri squamae uni-vel subuniseriatae 10-14 fere aequilongae oblongae-obovatae-oblanceolatae 5-7 mm longae 1.5-3 mm latae dorso sparse glanduloso-muriculatae(-puberulae) vel subglabrae acuminatae vel obtusae et mucronatae margine ± late albidoscariosae ciliato-fimbriatae. Flores radii 10-14; ligulae flavae subtus saepe passim violascentes involucrum plus duplo superantes. Flores disci flavi involucro fere aequilongi; appendix apicalis connectivorum atro-violacea. Achaenia glabra c. 6 mm longa c. 2 mm diam. jugis instructa; juga primaria tria acuta saepe minute alata, secundaria sex ± conspicua obtusa bina inter primaria composita; valleculae inter jugas foveolatae.
