Characteristics

Herba annua 0.5-1 m alta; caulis erectus teres striatus glanduloso-pubescens partibus vetustioribus saepe glabratus e basi lignescens usque 8 mm crassus superne parce ramosus; axis primarius corymbo terminatus in speciminibus vetustioribus ramis lateralibus corymbiferis valde superatus. Folia alterna crassiuscula glanduloso-pubescentia vel subglabra; inferiora et media ambitu rhomboidea-ovata-elliptica-oblanceolata 3-5(-8) cm longa 1-3(-5) cm lata basin versus cuneatim in petiolum semiamplexicaulem interdum basi minute rotundato-auriculatum 1-2(-4) cm longum angustata apice acuta vel rarius obtusa margine basi excepta grosse sinuato-dentata-inciso-pinnatifida saepe prominenter trinervia; superiora (ob)lanceolata (vel summa sublinearia) sessilia vel in petiolum brevem attenuata basi ± late auriculata margine sinuato-dentata-remote denticulata. Inflorescentiae laxae in caule et ramis terminales corymbosae; pedicelli capitulorum glanduloso-puberuli 1-5 cm longi laxe bracteati, bracteis subulatis 2-3 mm longis; capitula fructifera nutantia. Involucri squamae c. 20 biseriatae fere aequilongae (vel de exterioribus 1-3 breviores) lineares vel lineari-lanceolatae 4-6 mm longae 0.7-1.2 mm latae acute acuminatae dorso parce glandulosae interiores margine late albido-scariosae. Flores radii involucri squamas numero aequantes; ligulae flavae vel aurantiacae involucro 2-3-plo longiores; flores disci numerosi flavi. Achaenia 4-5 mm longa triangularia, omni latere ad medium sulco ± conspicuo instructo, minute foveolata et rugosa vel sublaevia, trialata, alis subhyalinis 1-1.5 mm latis; cavernula apicalis trifenestrata, fenestris ovalibus 0.5-1 mm longis.
