Folia alterna petiolata, petiolis 0.5-1 vel rarius usque 2 cm longis; lamina subcoriacea obovata-elliptica-oblanceolata 3-6 cm longa 1-3 cm lata apice acuta vel obtusa mucronulata basin versus cuneatim angustata margine leviter cartilaginea grosse serrato-dentata-denticulata, dentibus remotis saepe mucronulatis; folia novella laxe arachnoideo-lanata mox glabrescentia; nervus medius conspicuus subtus elevatus, nervi laterales vix conspicui. Inflorescentiae in ramulis terminales corymbosae paucicapitulatae vel rarius capitula in apicibus ramulorum solitaria; pedunculi capitulorum primo arachnoideo-lanati mox glabrescentes 1-3 cm longi bracteis paucis lineari-subulatis 2-6 mm longis sursum in squamas involucri transeuntibus instructi. Involucrum late campanulatum 3-5 mm altum; squamae virides 2-3-seriatae dorso leviter arachnoideae vel glabratae, exteriores breviores lineari-lanceolatae vel triangulari-lanceolatae margine vix scariosae, interiores ovatae vel late lanceolatae 3-4(-5) mm longae acutae vel acuminatae vel rarius obtusiusculae sat late scariosae. Receptaculum convexum glabrum. Flores radii 7-10; ligulae flavae involucrum 2-3-plo superantes. Flores disci flavi involucro fere aequilongi. Drupae maturae atrae vel caesiae; putamina dura sublaevia globosa vel subglobosa ratione inter longitudinem et latitudinem fere 1:1(5:5 vel 6:6 vel plerumque 6:5 vel 7:6 mm).
