Characteristics

Suffrutex vel frutex 2-6 dm altus caule normaliter erecto corymbose ramoso; caulis et rami valde lignescentes teretes primo lana laxa albida vestiti mox glabrescentes vel ad axillas tantum lanati dense foliati, internodiis 2-5 mm longis. Folia alterna coriacea glabra glaucescentia sessilia semiamplexicaulia erecto-patentia vel subimbricata linearia-lineari-oblanceolata(-lingulata)-anguste oblonga vel rarius anguste elliptica 1-5 cm longa 0.2-0.8 cm lata apice acuta-subobtusa et mucronulata margine integerrima laevia vel scabrida; nervus medius albidus subtus prominens interdum parce scabridus. Capitula in caule et ramis terminalia solitaria vel pauca in corymbum disposita; pedicelli dense glanduloso-muriculati 1-7 cm longi bracteis paucis remotis linearibus vel lineari-subulatis 3-8 mm longis instructi. Involucri squamae 8-13 uni-vel subuniseriatae fere aequilongae ovatae-oblongae(-obovatae) 4-6 mm longae 2-3 mm latae apice saepe violascentes acuminatae vel obtusae et mucronatae margine scariosae ciliolato-fimbriatae dorso dense glanduloso-muriculatae, muricibus albidis vel atro-violaceis (exsiccatis) rigidis conico-subulatis fere 0.5 mm longis. Flores radii involucri squamas numero aequantes; ligulae flavae subtus saepe passim rubro-violascentes involucrum plus duplo superantes; flores disci numerosi flavi involucro fere aequilongi. Achaenia matura glabra dura 5-7 mm longa 2-3 mm diam. 9-jugata; juga primaria tria obtusa, secundaria sex etiam obtusa bina inter primaria composita; valleculae intermissae saepe costis parvis transversis in foveolas divisae.
