Characteristics

Herba perennis 1-2 dm alta; caules e caudice crasso subterraneo lignoso exeuntes erecti rigidi simplices vel parum ramosi striato-sulcati primo glanduloso-asperi-pubescentes postremo glabrescentes e basi valde lignescentes sat dense foliati, internodiis 3-10 mm longis. Folia allerna sessilia subcoriacea glanduloso-aspera-pubescentia glabrescentia lineari-lanceolata-lanceolata 1.5-4.5 cm longa 3-6 mm lata (basalia et summa paullum minora) apice acuta mucronato-pungentia basin versus angustata subsemiamplexicaulia margine integerrima longitudinaliter nervosa, nervis 3-7 supra subtusque elevatis valde distinctis, nervo medio ceteris modice validiore. Capitula in apicibus caulis et ramorum solitaria subhemisphaerica; pedunculi usque 8 cm longi sed plerumque multo breviores superne dense glanduloso-pubescentes nudi vel bracteis paucis lineari-subulatis instructi. Involucri squamae c. 8 uniseriatae ovatae-lanceolatae 5-7 mm longae 2-3.5 mm latae virides acuminatae margine anguste scariosae dorso ± conspicue striatae et glanduloso-puberulae. Flores radii involucri squamas numero aequantes; ligulae flavae involucrum fere 2-plo superantes; staminodia 4 adsunt; flores disci c. 40 flavi involucro fere aequilongi. Achaenia (vix matura) 5 mm longa trialata, alis 1 mm latis impellucidis; latera fere laevia.
