Erect or sprawling herb, sometimes clambering over other vegetation, 0.5–2 m high or long; stems terete, densely short-hairy when young.. Leaves opposite, occasionally on flowering stems the most distal few alternate, sessile, narrowly elliptic to oblanceolate, 3–9.5 cm long, 0.4–1.6 cm wide, cuneate at the base and sometimes semi-amplexicaul, sinuate-toothed with gland-tipped teeth at the margin, acute to mucronate at the apex, densely to sparsely hispidulous.. Capitula solitary, terminal, 5–8 mm long (more if rays are erect), nodding in fruit; capitulum stalk 3–12 cm long, glandular-hairy, with or without a few linear bracts up to 12 mm long; phyllaries 10–18, ± 1-seriate, lanceolate, 4–6 mm long, 1–1.5 mm wide, acute, densely glandular-hairy but for the scarious margins.. Ray florets 10–18, the ray golden yellow with brown streaks on the abaxial surface, 13–20 mm long, 2.5–6 mm wide; disc florets numerous, yellow, ± 5 mm long.. Achenes obovoid, 4–6 mm long, 1.5–2 mm in diameter, slightly 3-angled, not winged, distally hairy.
