Characteristics

Tree to 25 m tall; indumentum stellate. Leaves elliptic to lanceolate; lamina to 17 cm long and 6 cm wide; petiole 7-12 mm long; stipules lanceolate, to 7 mm long. Spike on peduncle to 1 cm long; rachis to 3 cm long; bracts to 2 mm long; bracteoles to 1.5 mm long. Calyx lobes ovate, 3 mm long. Petals 7-9 mm long, 1-1.5 mm wide, pale green or yellow-green. Stamens c. 2 mm long; anther appendage c. 0.2 mm long; staminodes incurved, longer than stamens. Styles c. 0.3 mm long. Capsule glabrescent, 1.2-1.7 cm long, 1.2-2.4 cm wide, adnate with calyx tube for 3-5 mm. Seeds ellipsoidal, 1-1.5 cm long.
