Characteristics

Shrublet, up to 0.2 m tall, with a tuberous, caudiciform stem and slender, spreading or recurved branches, leafless except at tips. Leaves clustered at branch tips, oblanceolate, mostly 20-40 x 5-20 mm, entire or more usually pinnatifid, often woolly in axils. Flowerheads 1-few on peduncles 20-50 mm long, disciform, yellow or tipped reddish; involucre cup-shaped, 5-8 mm diam., bracts ± 5, 5-8 x 1-2 mm. Cypselas ± 4 mm, striate-pubescent; pappus 12-15 mm long.
