Small perennial herb 3.5–15 cm. tall, with up to 15–20 procumbent or subprocumbent densely hairy often branched stems spreading from a narrow ± woody rootstock.. Leaves paired; blades mostly ovate but sometimes ovate-lanceolate to round, 1–2 cm. long, 0.6–1.5 cm. wide, obtuse or acute at the apex, broadest near the base, widely cuneate, glabrescent to densely covered with long hairs, particularly beneath; sessile or petioles very short; stipules small, fimbriate into 3–5 segments 0.8–2 mm. long, hairy.. Flowers in dense terminal heads 0.8–1.5 cm. wide; pedicels very short.. Calyx-tube ± 1 mm. long, covered with long hairs; lobes 4–5, 1–2 foliaceous and ± ovate, 1.5–5.5 mm. long, 0.5–1.5(–2) mm. wide, glabrescent to hairy, the rest minute, pilose.. Fruit pale brown, ovoid to subglobose, 2 mm. long, 1.5 mm. wide, pilose.. Seeds dark reddish brown, depressed ovoid or subglobose, 1–1.3 mm. long, 0.8–1 mm. wide, somewhat keeled dorsally, with an elliptic to round depression around the hilum.
