Mature leaves petiolate; blade submerged, linear-elliptic to ovate, 4.4–15 cm. long, 1.8–4(–6.5) cm. wide, obtuse, cuneate or cordate at base, mid-green, with 6–10 prominent longitudinal veins connected by numerous cross-veins, together with many smaller longitudinal veins; margins entire; petiole 9–20 cm. long, 0.1–1.6 cm. wide.. Nodal scales not seen.. Male spathe: peduncle 6–30 cm. long, 0.3–1.7 cm. wide; body of spathe submerged, usually slightly inflated, oblong, elliptic to ovate-lanceolate, 4.6–9 cm. long, 0.6–3.9 cm. wide, 2–6-lobed at the apex, with 0–2 wings and several longitudinal ribs or veins, green or purplish, often minutely tuberculate.. Male flowers up to 20 or more per spathe; pedicels up to 9.5 cm. long; sepals linear-lanceolate to linear-oblong, 1–2.6 cm. long, 2–6.5 mm. wide, subacute to obtuse, whitish or green, often with brown longitudinal striations, the margins hyaline; petals obovate, 1.9–2.7 cm. long, 1.2–1.3 cm. wide, rounded or somewhat truncate, white with a yellow base; stamens up to 15; anthers 3.2–4 mm. long, yellow; filaments 6–15 mm. long.. Female inflorescence with an angled scape; spathe ovate, 5.5 cm long and 2.5 cm broad, fleshy, grooved; flower solitary, with a green perianth-tube, short at first, lengthening in fruit, outer segments green, firm, linear-lanceolate, 17 mm long and 5 mm broad, inner obovate, 4 cm long, white, staminodes 3, filiform, styles 3 short, with the stigmatic arms longer than the style, flattened, with the edges densely glandular-fimbriate, with a globular gland at the base. Fruit narrowly ovoid, 4-5 cm long, beaked.
