Acaulescent perennial herb, with a simple vertical rhizome, the rhizome often with membranous scales getting larger towards the top; bulb not seen.. Leaves 3-foliolate, 3–many in a rosette; petioles up to over 13 cm. long, with a mixed indumentum of sparse long simple hairs and short glandular hairs; leaflets linear-oblong, up to more than 35 mm. long and 12 mm. wide, narrowing to the base and obtuse at apex, glabrous above, punctate and sparsely hairy beneath, more hairy on the midrib.. Flowers 5–many in pseudumbels, light purple with a greenish throat; peduncles as long as, or more often longer than, the petioles, arising from the leaf-rosette or subtended by cauline bracts, sparsely hairy or glabrous; bracts many, shortly lanceolate to linear, 4–5 mm. long, acute, pilose; pedicels 1–2 cm. long, like the calyx with glandular hairs.. Sepals lanceolate, 4–7 mm. long, acute with apical calli, glandular hairy.. Petals cuneate and spathulate, ± 3 times as long as the sepals, hairy in part on the outside or glabrous.. Long filaments hairy, ±1.5 times as long as the sepals; short filaments glabrous.. Styles shorter or longer than the 2 stamen whorls, thus the flowers are short-styled or long-styled..
