Characteristics

Herbs, 35-40 cm tall or more, acaulescent, from a multi­headed caudex. Stems with 3-5 or more apparent internodes, thick, erect. Stipules ovate, herbaceous, with appressed dense long trichomes, free from petiole, connate at base, distinct parts triangular. Leaves 10-19 cm; node between petiole and leaflets with pale brown glands and appressed dense long trichomes; leaflets 17-25, mainly opposite but some verticillate, 2-4 blades per whorl; leaflet blades lanceolate, ovate-lanceolate, or lanceolate-oblong, 1-3 cm, both surfaces with short trichomes. Racemes many flowered; peduncle 10-25 cm, erect, with dense curved trichomes; bracts linear-lanceolate, longer than calyx. Calyx cylindric, 1.2-1.3 cm, membranous, with long trichomes; lobes subulate, ca. 6 mm. Corolla yellow; standard 1.1-1.7 cm, lamina obovate, apex emarginate; wings oblong, 1.3-1.5 cm; keel as long as wings, beak ca. 1 mm. Legume shortly stipi­tate; body oblong, 1.2-1.5 cm, inflated, membranous, 1-locular, with appressed black trichomes, beak curved. Fl. Jun-Aug, fr. Jul-Sep.
