Characteristics

Shrub 0.3–0.8 m high, with dense, silvery or rusty, appressed, simple hairs on young stems. Leaves conduplicate at first; lamina narrowly obovate to obovate, (5–) 7–10 (–18) mm long, 2–4 (–7) mm wide, base narrowly cuneate, margin ± flat, apex obtuse to acute, recurved-apiculate; glabrous to sparsely silvery-or rusty-villous beneath; petiole 1–2 mm long; stipules narrowly triangular, 2–3.5 mm long, free or shortly connate. Inflorescence globular in shape, containing 10–50 flowers. Flowers white or pale pink, moderately villose. Hypanthium tube 1–2.5 mm long (enlarging to c. 4 mm long in fruit), 1.5–3 mm in diam., glabrous inside. Sepals 2–2.5 mm long. Petals 0.8–1.2 mm long. Ovary largely inferior. Style 2.5–5 mm long, lower half thickened, with simple hairs at base. Fruit obovoid, 3–3.5 mm long. Seeds darkened at base, medium brown above, c. 1.7 long; aril c. 0.5 mm long, white-translucent.
