A much branched shrub, 1.0 m high or less, the stems tomentose when young, glabrescent. Leaves up to 70 mm long, all alike, much dissected, the segments slender with short curly hairs when young, glabrescent, the apiculum broad, obtuse, pale. Peduncle densely villous-tomentose, as long as or shorter than the spike, with scattered bracts. Spike 40-80 mm long, 25-40 mm wide. Bracts on the peduncle adpressed, ovate, ovate-lanceolate or subulate, acute, with long hairs near the base, the hairs becoming shorter towards the apex. Bracts subtending the partial inflorescences rather more than half the length of the floral bracts, broad at the base and widening, then narrowing rather suddenly to a point, hairs long at the base, becoming shorter towards the tip. Floral bracts elliptical, about half the length of the mature flower bud or a little less, hairs similar to those on the subtending bracts. Perianth of the mature bud about 14 mm long, claws white appearing powdery owing to crowded short hairs, hairs on the limb longer, all segments alike. Style pink, glabrous near the apex and at the base, at least two thirds of its length densely covered with woolly hairs; pollen presenter about 1.5 mm long, green, wider than the style.
