Characteristics

Herbaceous vines, 8-10 m long. Stem terete, angular, brownish pubescent. Leaves alternate; petiole 2-3 cm, glabrescent, with 2 discoid glands at base; leaf blade 10-16 × 6-8.5 cm, leathery, abaxially glabrescent, with 2 lines of laminar nectaries scattered along midvein, base rounded, margin slightly undulate, apex 2-or 3-lobed, lobes equal in length or central lobe longer. Inflorescences sessile, 2-flowered. Pedicel 3-4 cm. Flowers whitish, 4-5 cm in diam.; hypanthium ca. 1 cm wide. Sepals pinkish, ovate, 2.5-3 × ca. 1 cm, membranous, sparsely pubescent. Petals white, 2.5-3 cm × ca. 5 mm. Coronal fila ments in 2 series; outer series 1-2 cm, inner series ca. 5 mm; operculum incurved, plicate, membranous; androgynophore ca. 1 cm tall. Stamens 5; filaments ca. 1 cm; anthers ca. 8 mm. Ovary ellipsoid, densely pubescent; styles 3, free, ca. 1 cm; stigmas capitate. Fruit ovoid or ellipsoid, ca. 3 cm in diam.
