Herb with short, fleshy rhizome forming annual corm-like segments; leaves and flowers annual. Leaf usually solitary; lamina linear to elliptic, 7-16 cm long, 5-12 mm wide, plicate, soft-textured, margins and several prominent veins pilose with hairs 3-6 mm long, tapered into narrow petiole 3-5 cm long. Scape 2-3 cm long, pilose. Spathes narrowly triangular to lanceolate, 2-3.4 cm long, prominently veined, villous, green. Involucre 8-15 mm wide, gaping; inner bracts completely exposed, similar to spathes. Tube 1.5-2 cm long, glabrous. Sepals obovate, 1.5-2 cm long, 1.2-1.4 cm wide, blue-violet. Petals linear. Filaments 4-5 mm long, three-quarters connate. Ovary pubescent. Fruit not seen.
