Characteristics

Corms condensed, less than 2 cm long and wide; tunic densely fibrous. Roots fleshy-filamentous. Leaf lamina flat or angular, subulate, 2-35 cm long, 1-3.5 mm wide. Inflorescences 1-4, 6-35 cm long; pedicels 5-13 cm long; bracteole usually 1, sheathing axis, 1-7 cm long. Perianth lobes yellow outside. Stamens 1.8-12 mm long; filaments alternately long and short, 1-2.5 mm long; anthers cordate to shortly sagittate at base. Style slender; stigmatic lobes free, ±narrowly triangular to linear; ovary 2.5-10 mm long, 2-locular. Capsule ±obovoid-ellipsoidal, 8-14 mm long. Seeds ±depressed-globular, 0.5-1.2 mm wide, red-brown, rugulose to rugose, ±shiny or dull.
