Leaves yellow-green (as in aluminium-accumulating plants); blades deeply furrowed, elliptic-oblong, (7–)9.6–15.5(–23.5) cm. long, 2–5.6(–8.4) cm. wide, acuminate at the apex, cuneate at the base, pubescent on main nerves particularly beneath or almost glabrous on both surfaces; lateral nerves 16–20 on each side; petiole 0.5–1.5 cm. long; stipules ovate-triangular or ovate, 0.5–1.8 cm. long, 0.3–1.2 cm. wide, acute to acuminate at the apex, adpressed pubescent, eventually deciduous.. Flowers in extensive terminal and axillary inflorescences (the axillary ones actually often branches bearing one pair of leaves), 8–25 cm. long and wide; peduncles 3–8.5 cm. long; secondary peduncles 2–4 cm. long; pedicels 0.5–5 mm. long; whorls of bracts absent, but sometimes a few scattered lanceolate bracts ± 5 mm. long; all parts of inflorescence densely adpressed yellowish tomentose-pubescent.. Calyx campanulate, pubescent, the tube 0.5–1 mm. long, the limb-tube 0.6–1 mm. long, the shallow teeth up to ± 0.3 mm. long..
