Shrub, 1–1.5(–3.5) m. tall; young branches usually glabrous but sometimes very sparsely hairy or puberulous; older branches with pale mid-brown bark.. Leaves mostly confined to the apices of the branches; blades often drying blackish blue, elliptic to broadly elliptic or sometimes oblanceolate, 3.5–15.5 cm. long, 2–6.4 cm. wide, apex acuminate, sometimes shortly mucronulate, base acute or less often cuneate, glabrous to glabrescent or occasionally sparsely puberulous above and beneath; bacterial nodules small, dot-like, few–many, scattered; petiole 0.3–2.5 cm. long, puberulous or glabrous; stipules triangular, 6–10 mm. long, only shortly connate, caudate or sometimes aristate, glabrous to glabrescent outside, glabrous or with few silky hairs inside.. Corymbs terminal on lateral branches 2.5–15.3 cm. long bearing 0–2 pairs of leaves near the apex, very congested, 1.5–3 cm. across; primary inflorescence branches 0.5–3(–5) mm. long; secondary branches very reduced or absent; pedicels 1–1.5(–3) mm. long, glabrous to glabrescent; bracts pale brown, 4–6 mm. long, much smaller than width of inflorescence, papery, glabrous to glabrescent outside, with very few silky hairs inside.. Calyx-tube 1–1.2 mm. long, glabrous or sparsely hairy; limb-tube 0.75–1.75 mm. long; lobes triangular at base, filiform above, 0.35–2 cm. long, up to 0.75 mm. wide at base, very sparsely pubescent to pubescent.. Corolla-tube 1.4–2.2 cm. long, 1.5(–2) mm. wide at top, glabrous outside, not bearded at throat; lobes oblong-elliptic, 4.5–5.7 mm. long, 1.5–2(–2.5) mm. wide, acumen green, keeled..
