Characteristics

Shrub, 0.5-2.0 m high; very similar to P. natalensis, but leaves velvety hairy on lower surface. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils; many-flowered, much-branched, umbrella-like cymes. Flowers: corolla tube up to 12 mm long; lobes 10 mm long. Calyx: tube obconic; lobes ± 3.5 mm long, triangular, cymbiform (boat-shaped) with sharp point. Flowering time Sept.-Feb. Fruit ± 5 mm in diam., crowned with persistent calyx lobes.
