Characteristics

Shrub 1–1.8 m. tall; young branches densely pubescent, older branches covered with buff flaking bark.. Leaf-blades turning blue-black when dry, obovate, 6.5–13 cm. long, 2–4.7 cm. wide, apex acuminate, sometimes mucronulate, base cuneate, sparsely pubescent to tomentose beneath; bacterial nodules dot-shaped, slightly raised and usually with a denser patch of hairs above and beneath, few, scattered; petiole 5–8 mm. long, pubescent to tomentose; stipules brown, triangular, 1.2–1.5 cm. long, acuminate to shortly aristate, papery, pubescent outside, caducous.. Corymbs terminal on short lateral pubescent to tomentose branches 2–3 cm. long usually bearing 1 pair of immature leaves or occasionally leafless, moderately compact, 1.5–2 cm. across; primary inflorescence-branches 3–7 mm. long, pubescent; secondary branches absent; pedicels 2–4 mm. long, pubescent; bracts brown, 5–7 mm. long, pubescent outside with a few silky hairs inside; bracteoles brownish papery.. Calyx-tube 1 mm. long, glabrescent to pubescent; limb-tube 1–1.25 mm. long, glabrescent; lobes narrowly linear, 3–5 mm. long, ± 0.25 mm. wide, sparsely pubescent..
