Characteristics

Shrub; young branches pubescent; older branches covered with gnarled buff bark.. Leaf-blades rotund or broadly obovate, 6.7–15.3 cm. long, 4.6–10 cm. wide, apex rounded, apiculate or acute, base cuneate, pubescent above, tomentose beneath; bacterial nodules dot-like, small, scattered; petiole 0.5–2 cm. long, tomentose; stipules triangular, 0.6–1.2 cm. long, acuminate, pubescent outside, with few silky hairs at axils inside.. Corymbs terminal on lateral branches 1–13.5 cm. long bearing 1–2 pairs of leaves at the apex, not markedly lax, 2.5–4.5 cm. across; primary inflorescence-branches 2–3 mm. long, densely pubescent; secondary branches present; pedicels 0.15–1 cm. long, pubescent; bracts ± ovate, 5–6 mm. long, pubescent outside; bracteoles scale-like to filiform.. Calyx pubescent to tomentose; tube 1 mm. long; limb-tube 1–1.25 mm. long, slightly wider than the tube; lobes narrowly triangular to linear, 5–8 mm. long, 0.75–1 mm. wide at base.. Corolla-tube 2 cm. long, 1.5 mm. wide at top, glabrous or pubescent outside, not bearded at throat; lobes ± oblong, 6 mm. long, 1.5 mm. wide, acute.. Fruit not known.
