Characteristics

Shrub, up to 2.5 m high. Leaves petiolate, large, narrowly elliptic or narrowly obovate, acute to acuminate, glossy dark green above, paler below. Domatia on lower leaf surfaces. Bacterial nodules round, scattered all over leaf surface. Inflorescences in upper leaf axils; relatively few-flowered clusters in branched corymbs. Flowers: corolla tube up to 14 mm long; lobes up to 12 mm long. Calyx: lobes up to 1.75 mm long, broad, persistent in fruit. Flowering time Dec.-Feb.

Flowers white, large, showy calyx lobes triangular, to 1 mm. In open clusters on an axillary stalk. Fruits black round, clustered.
