Characteristics

Leaf blades 11–18.5 × 2.8–5 cm, oblanceolate to narrowly obovate, acuminate at the apex, cuneate at the base, papery, glabrous above and sparsely pubescent below; lateral nerves in 10–15 main pairs; bacterial nodules few to many, dot-like to elliptic, scattered but usually near the midrib; domatia pubescent; petiole 0.5–2 cm long; stipule limbs mid-brown, 3–8 mm long, triangular acuminate, glabrous outside.

Inflorescences compactly subumbellate, 1–1.8 cm across (excluding corollas; primary inflorescence branches up to 2 mm long, pedicels 1–3 mm long, glabrous or with a few hairs; bracts up to 5 mm long, thinly papery, triangular-acuminate, glabrous or very sparsely pubescent outside, with silky hairs inside.
Calyx tube 0.6–0.8 mm long, glabrous; limb-tube 0.5–0.8 mm long, clearly wider than tube, overtopped by silky hairs on inside; lobes 0.9–1.3 mm long, narrowly triangular-subulate, glabrous.
Inflorescence-supporting branches very slender, 6.3–11 cm long, leafless or bearing 1 pair of immature leaves at apex.
Corolla tube 5–13 mm long, glabrous outside, not bearded at the throat; lobes 4–8 × 1–1.2 mm, ± oblong, acuminate.
Little-branched shrub 1–2 m tall; young stems glabrous, mid-brown; older branches greyish.
Fruit greyish-green, 8 mm in diameter, shiny.
Seed greyish, 7 mm wide.
