Characteristics

Shrub, young branches pubescent; older branches covered with thin greyish bark.. Leaves drying blackish; blades narrowly elliptic to elliptic, 2.5–7.5 cm. long, 1–3 cm. wide, apex acute or slightly acuminate, base acute, glabrous becoming sparsely pubescent towards the base above and beneath; bacterial nodules small, dot-shaped, few, scattered; petioles 1–2 mm. long, pubescent; stipule-limbs drying greenish grey, membranous, truncate 2–3 mm. long, glabrous.. Corymbs terminal on short leafless (or occasionally with immature leaves) branches 1.8–5.5 cm. long, compact, 2–2.4 cm. across; primary inflorescence-branches 1–4 mm. long, pubescent; secondary branches very reduced; pedicels 1.5–3 mm. long, pubescent; bracts buff-coloured, 2 mm. long; bracteoles black with pale brown margin (on dry specimens).. Calyx-tube 1 mm. long, pubescent; limb-tube 0.75–1 mm. long, wider than tube, sparsely pubescent; lobes narrowly triangular, 2.5–3 mm. long, sparsely pubescent, ± 0.75 mm. wide at base.. Corolla-tube 2 cm. long, ± 1 mm. long at top glabrous outside, sparsely hairy inside; lobes oblong-elliptic, 4.5–6 mm. long, 1.75 mm. wide, acute to acuminate.. Fruit not known.
