Leaves clustered at apices or spread along new stems, not always fully mature at time of flowering, subsessile; blades 3.3–6.2 × 0.8–1.5 cm, oblanceolate to narrowly obovate, obtuse to rounded at the apex, cuneate to narrowly cuneate at the base, pubescent above, densely silvery pubescent to tomentose beneath; lateral nerves in 5–7 main pairs; domatia absent; bacterial nodules dot-like, scattered, few or many; stipules 2–3 mm long, triangular acuminate, pubescent outside.
Inflorescences compact when young but becoming laxer with age, 0.8–1.2 cm across (excluding corollas); primary inflorescence branches 1.5–3 mm long; secondary and sometimes tertiary branches clearly present; pedicels up to 4 mm long, pubescent; bracts ± ovate, up to 2 mm long, pubescent outside, caducous.
Tree, up to 8 m high. Leaves large, rhomboid to ovate-elliptic, lower surface pubescent, petiolate, bacterial nodules dot-shaped and scattered. Calyx dentate, lobes up to 0.2 mm long. Corolla tube up to 10 mm long. Flowers white.
Calyx densely pubescent; tube c. 0.5 mm long; limb-tube c. 0.5 mm long, scarcely wider than the tube; lobes shortly triangular to triangular, 0.2–0.5 mm long.
Corolla tube 4.5–5 mm long, glabrous outside, not bearded at the throat; lobes 4.5–5 × c. 1 mm, oblong, obtuse or rounded.
Rhizomatous suffrutex, up to 0.5 m tall; stems twiggy, pubescent when young, later covered with greyish-buff bark.
Fruit drying black, 5–6 mm across, crowned by persistent calyx limb; pedicels lengthening to 7 mm long.
Inflorescence-supporting branches abbreviated, 2–5(7) cm long, leafless.
Seeds 5 mm across, greyish-fawn.
