Characteristics

Leaf blades drying bronze or greyish-green, 4–4.7 × 1.5–2.8 cm, obovate, shortly acuminate at apex, narrowly cuneate at base, papery, sparsely pubescent above, densely pubescent to tomentose beneath; lateral nerves in 9 main pairs; domatia absent; bacterial nodules few and small; petioles short, up to 4 mm long, pubescent; stipules c. 2 mm long, triangular-acuminate, pubescent outside.

Inflorescences compact, 1.5–2 cm across (excluding corollas); primary inflorescence branches 1–2 mm long, densely pubescent; secondary branches very reduced; pedicels up to 1.5 mm long, tomentose; bracts similar to stipules.
Corolla tube shortly exceeding the calyx lobes, 7–7.5 mm (10.5 mm fide Klotzsch), c. 1 mm wide at the top, glabrous outside, not bearded at the throat; lobes 5 × 1.75–2 mm, ± oblong, acuminate.
Calyx tube c. 1 mm long, tomentose; limb-tube c. 0.75 mm long; lobes 6 × 0.8 mm, linear-lanceolate, densely pubescent.
Inflorescence-supporting branches slender, 1.5–8.5 cm long, bearing 1–2 pairs of leaves clustered at apex.
Small shrub; young branches pubescent; older branches covered with greyish bark.
Fruit black, 5.5 mm across, crowned by persistent calyx.
Seed greyish, c. 4 mm wide, rugulose on convex face.
