Characteristics

Leaves clustered on short lateral spurs or spaced along young twigs, sessile; blades 2–6.3 × 0.5–1.8 cm, narrowly obovate, oblanceolate or linear-lanceolate, rounded, obtuse or acute at the apex, sometimes minutely apiculate, very narrowly cuneate at the base; lateral nerves in 3–4 rather faint main pairs; domatia absent; bacterial nodules absent, few or relatively abundant, dot-like or elliptical, scattered; stipules on young twigs with truncate limb 1–2 mm long and apiculum 1–1.5 mm long.

Corolla white, greenish-white or yellowish-white; glabrous outside; tube 6–9 mm long, c. 1.2 mm wide at the top, not bearded at the throat; lobes 4–6 × 1.6–2.2 mm, oblong ovate or sometimes narrowly so, obtuse to acuminate.
Inflorescences subumbellate, 8–13 mm wide (excluding corollas); primary inflorescence branches suppressed; pedicels 0.8–4 mm long; bracts up to 3.5 mm long, densely covered with silky white hairs inside; bracteoles absent.
Calyx tube c. 1 mm long; limb-tube 0.6–0.8 mm long; lobes 2–3 mm long, 0.6–1 mm wide at the base, linear-lanceolate, linear-triangular or strap-shaped, spreading when mature.
Glabrous small shrub 0.6–2 m tall; young twigs slender, covered with buff-coloured bark; older branches covered with light brown or reddish-brown bark.
Inflorescence-supporting branches 0.2–3.5 cm long, slender up to 1 mm wide, leafless or occasionally bearing short lateral spurs.
Fruit black, 5–6 mm in diameter, crowned by calyx limb with spreading lobes.
