Characteristics

Shrub or small tree; young branches glabrous, not becoming corky, angled and grooved in dry material.. Leaf-blades lanceolate or oblong-elliptic, 15–24 cm. long, 4.3–9.4 cm., wide, apex acute to acuminate, base cuneate, tending to be coriaceous, moderately shiny above, glabrous save for the puberulous prominent midrib beneath; bacterial nodules dot-like, elliptic or linear, scattered, few to several; petiole 1.6–4 cm. long, ± puberulous below, glabrous above; stipule-limb truncate, 5–7 mm. long, glabrous outside; arista 3–7 mm. long.. Corymbs terminal on leafy branches, ± crowded, up to 4.7 cm. across; primary inflorescence-branches 4–6 mm. long (or up to 1.8 cm. long in fruit), puberulous; secondary and tertiary branches present; pedicels 0–3 mm. long, puberulous; bracts stipule-like; bracteoles drying brown, scale-like, conspicuous.. Calyx-tube 1 mm. long, puberulous; limb drying paler than tube; limb-tube 1 mm. long, distinctly wider than the tube, puberulous; lobes ovate, 1–1.25 mm. long, 1–1.5 mm. wide at base, apiculate, sparsely puberulous.. Corolla-tube 1.2–1.4 cm. long, 1 mm. wide at top, glabrous outside, not bearded at throat; lobes oblong, 6 mm. long, 1.5 mm. wide, shortly apiculate..
