Characteristics

Shrub; young branches pubescent; older branches covered with dull buff bark.. Leaf-blades drying greenish brown, oblanceolate to narrowly obovate, 7.5–13 cm. long, 2.5–4.8 cm. wide, acuminate at apex, cuneate at base, glabrous to glabrescent with midrib pubescent towards base above, glabrescent with pubescent nerves beneath; bacterial nodules dot-shaped to linear, few, mostly confined to the midrib; petioles 0.4–1 cm. long, pubescent; stipule-limbs truncate to slightly triangular, 2 mm. long, pubescent outside; arista up to 4 mm. long, slightly keeled towards base.. Corymbs terminal on lateral branches 5.4–8.5 cm. long bearing usually one pair of leaves near the apex, lax, 3.8–4.8 cm. across; primary inflorescence-branches 0.6–1.8 cm. long, finely pubescent; secondary and occasionally tertiary branches present; pedicels 2–5 mm. long, finely pubescent; bracts stipule-like; bracteoles inconspicuous.. Calyx puberulous-pubescent; tube 1 mm. long; limb-tube up to 1 mm. long, slightly wider than tube; lobes narrowly triangular below, subulate at apex, ± 0.75–1 mm. long.. Corolla-tube 1.7–2 cm. long, 1.75–2 mm. wide at top, pubescent outside, not bearded at throat; lobes oblong, 7 mm. long, 2.5–3 mm. wide, acuminate and darkened at apex (when dry)..
